Aromaticity

The cyclic compounds having alternate single and double bond show resemblance in chemical behavior with benzene are called aromatic compounds. They give substitute reactions rather addition reactions. This characteristic behavior is called aromatic character or Aromaticity.
Condition for Aromaticity
Compounds must be cyclic and planer. Highly unsaturated compounds but resistant to addition reactions. Usually stable as shown by their low heat of hydrogenation and heat of combustion. They undergo electrophilic substitute reactions. They must observe Huckel’s rule (4n +2) π electrons.
What is Huckel’s rule?
  1. An aromatic compound is cyclic and planar.
  2. Each atom in an aromatic ring has a p orbital.
  3. The cyclic π molecular orbital (electron cloud) formed by overlap of p orbital must contains (4n+2) π electrons
A compound will be aromatic if contains (4n+2)   here “n” is the number of ring in the compound.  Example1. Benzene   apply (4n +2) x formula.
(4*1+2)=6 π electrons. As there are six pi electrons are present, the benzene is aromatic compound. 2. Naphthalene according to the formula (4n+2) π = (4*2 +2) =10 π electrons
There are five double bond formed by 10 pi-electrons. Thus naphthalene is an aromatic compound.

Meet Moroccan Exporters. Win a Weekend in Marrakech
London, UK
Published: 03 June, 2010

A free business event in central London on 21st June 2010 – the first Morocco British Trade Day - is giving UK leather sector businesses the opportunity to meet Moroccan exporters of quality leather goods. At the trade day one-to-one business meetings will be arranged to allow UK companies to establish relationships with key Moroccan exporters.

In addition UK delegates will be entered into a draw to win a luxury weekend for two in Marrakech – the only requirement being to complete an event Feedback Questionnaire.

More and more UK companies are sourcing leather and leather finished goods outside the Eurozone. Morocco has a solid and growing reputation within this sector and the smart money is on a growing market for these products in the UK.

The Morocco British Trade Day is hosted by the Moroccan Embassy in conjunction with Maroc Export (the government body that promotes Moroccan exports) and the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce. It will be officially opened by HH Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Kingdom.

Spaces are limited and places are being allocated on a first come first served basis. Email simon@boroughpr.co.uk or phone 0207 378 3431 to reserve your place.
