The British School of Leather Technology, part of the University of Northampton held their annual prize giving ceremony to graduates on June 8 in London. The following awards were presented.
BSc (Hons) Materials Technology (Leather), 1st prize – Juan Pablo Salazar Moreno (also recipient of the Union Specialties scholarship). 2nd prize – Zaid Alam. 3rd prize – Naveed Ashraf (also recipient of a Leathersellers’ Company scholarship). Leather International Award - Diego Fernando Triana Ramirez (also recipient of a Leathersellers’ Company Scholarship), Leathersellers’ Certificate. Leathersellers’ Award for Leather Practice – Saqib Munir.
Also present at the ceremony was Jarryl D’Oyley who benefitted from a Leathersellers’ Apprenticeship with BLC while studying MSc Leather Technology at BSLT.
The presentation was at Leathersellers’ Hall, London by Leathersellers’ master, Charles Barrow.
During the ceremony presentations were given to the students from University of Northampton, vice chancellor, Anne Tate and Colombian tanner, Juan Manuel Salazar, director, Americana de Curtidos.

The British School of Leather Technology (BSLT), part of the University of Northampton, held their annual student prize giving ceremony at the Leathersellers’ Hall in London on June 9. At the ceremony students were awarded with prizes relating to academic studies over the past academic year. The ceremony also highlights BSLT’s international flavour with most students attending the courses from outside the UK.

The award winners were as follows, from the left, Lemar Hart (South Africa), achievement in leather practice, Oratile Koloka (Botswana), outstanding Leathersellers’ student, Michael Binyon OBE, master of the Leathersellers’ Company, Hammad Shoeb (Pakistan), Leather International magazine award for best BSc 3rd year project and Li Min Wang (China), outstanding BSc 3rd year student.
Serder Yerlikaya (Turkey) (not pictured) was awarded the prize for the outstanding MSc student.
Other graduates from the class of 2009 are as follows: BSc year 3: Azeem Saleem Ahmed (Pakistan), Andre Soesanto-Putera (Indonesia) and Ahad Tariq (Pakistan). MSc: Shegaw Ahmed Mohammed (Ethiopia) and Mohammad Azad Rahman Siddique (Bangladesh). MBA: Darryl Cassingham (Australia)

Hammad Shoeb (Pakistan) won the Leather International magazine award for best BSc 3rd year project. The prize included a year’s free subscription to Leather International.
