The forest and vegetation in Pakistan are grown according got the topography. For instance, Alpine and Flora trees are found on high slopes of mountains while Sproo, Evergreen Oka, Chirr and Deodar trees are grown on lower slopes.
The types of forests found in Pakistan include coniferous forests, irrigated plantation, coastal forests, RIVERINE forests, scrub forest, linear plantations and deciduous forests covering and area of 4,276,000 hectors. Wood and wood products including timber, wood pulp, paper board pulp and other wood items are imported on the large scale in Pakistan every year to bridge the negative between the demand and supply of these good. Pakistan to earn foreign exchange, also exports the forest products.
The Government of Pakistan patronizes plantation campaign in the country every year so that the area under frosts many be extended. Moreover, the plants are provided to the farmers on every low and subsidized price to plant them on their farms. Pakistan, in relation to the forest is a deficient country because out of 87.98 million hectors land the forest are on 4.28 million hectors only which comes to 4.8 percent of the total areas of the country. It is very discouraging and alarming situation. Although Pakistan possesses very limited forest resources nevertheless, forest are playing very important and strategic role in the economy of Pakistan. Forest provide employment to half million population, 3.5 million cubic meter wood and cater one third domestic fuel requirements of the country. Forests and thorny bushes areas provide grazing fields to 30 million live stock.
